This month's Gary's Direct Wine Spotlight features Salt Wine Company, a Pacific Northwest producer built on one simple belief: that exceptional fruit from the West Coast's most prestigious vineyards should be accessible to everyone. With over 35 years of winery relationships, they source small-lot, artisanal wines from the Willamette Valley in Oregon and the Columbia Valley in Washington — two of the most celebrated AVAs in the country. From their flagship Oregon Pinot Noir, crafted with estate-grown fruit and meticulous sorting, to a crisp Columbia Valley Sauvignon Blanc bursting with citrus and minerality, Salt Wine Company delivers craft-level quality at an everyday price. Elegant, approachable, and built for the table — these are wines worth discovering.

Ilha De Sao Miguel

This month's Cheese Spotlight takes us across the Atlantic to the volcanic islands of the Azores — one of Europe's most extraordinary and least-known dairy regions. On São Miguel, nicknamed "The Green Island," cows graze year-round on lush pastures, a rarity unique to this corner of Portugal, and one that makes all the difference on the plate. Ilha de São Miguel is one of the few cheeses in the world that directly benefits from volcanic soil — and you can taste it. The paste is earthy and sea-salty, with an unexpected brightness of tropical fruit that gives way to a peppery finish with a whisper of garlic. Aged for a minimum of nine months beneath its signature black rind, this DOP-certified semi-hard cow's milk cheese is bold, layered, and utterly unlike anything else on a cheese board. The kind of find that makes you wonder where it's been all your life.
