Granite Hill Cellars, released in March of 2018 by the Kautz Family, comes from the Lodi, California appellation. Fourth generation family growers, the Kautz family philosophy is, “quality wine grapes, a touch of artistry, and patience create captivating, elegant wines."

The name, Granite Hill, is derived from the rocky and “granite” terroir the family’s vineyards grow on. The soft rolling hills, in conjunction with the Pacific Ocean Delta breezes make these vineyards ideal for grapes of distinction.

Lodi has been a famed region for growing Zinfandel grapes for many years, but it has been the last 10-15 years that it has been shining through with other varieties.

Granite Hill Cellars showcases Lodi's diversity with seven different varietal bottlings: Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio.

Now is the time to stock up and make sure you’re sipping on something beautiful this season with Granite Hill Cellars!

Granite Hill Cabernet Sauvignon

Gary’s Wine Team Tasting Notes:

Aromas of dark cherries and toasted vanilla oak, followed up with flavors of black currants, blueberries, sweet raspberry and a slight hint of tobacco and spice. The finish is lingering and flavorful with red currants and oak.
Delicious with grilled meats, especially tri-tip and ribeye or enjoy with wild game, such as venison, duck confit or a decadent dark chocolate dessert.

Granite Hill Chardonnay

Gary’s Wine Team Tasting Notes:

Supple with flavors of tropical fruits, like guava, apple and passionfruit that leads into vanilla beans and a creamy medium finish.
Delicious with soft cheeses, fish such as tilapia, halibut and salmon, as well as chicken and pork dishes. Vegetarian zucchini and wild mushrooms with pasta are wonderful as well.

Granite Hill Petite Sirah

Gary’s Wine Team Tasting Notes:

A deep, fark purple color with aromas of cherries and blueberries. Flavors of plums and a warm berry pie are followed by sweet vanilla oak and finishes with some soft and slightly spicy tannins.
Delicious with grilled meats, like beef tenderloin and lamb roast. Enjoy with a slow cooked braised beef or short ribs, as well as with a rack of lamb or pork tenderloin. An array of dark chocolates, especially molten cake, work very nicely.

Grantie Hill Pinot Grigio

Gary’s Wine Team Tasting Notes:

Exotic floral aromas that stream into some subtle green apple and citrus with a light spiciness. The finish is smooth and lasting with some ending notes of white peaches.
Delicious as an aperitif or when served with mild cheeses, light fish dishes, such as sole, cod and shrimp. Chicken marsala or a simple BBQ works well with this. Vegetarian friendly, so any fresh green salads, baked potatoes or light soups work very well.
