Chateau La Gaffeliere

Château la Gaffelière is worthy of its great wine status, a 1st Great Growth since the beginning of St Emilion’s classification in 1959. The vine has been perpetual at Château La Gaffelière since Gallo-Roman times.

Although steeped in tradition, the estate incorporates modern green practices to enhance the sustainability and biodiversity of the vineyard. The pruned shoots are shredded in the row and contribute to the natural soil enrichment. Between the rows, natural cover encourages the development of biodiversity, reduces erosion and has a positive impact on the vigor of the vine. Grapes are harvested by hand when the parcel is ready requiring multiple harvest dates depending on particularity of the blocks.

Chewy tannins stuffed with dark fruit. Pair with grilled lamb or squab and firm cheeses like Grana Padano.
